When my friends put V & B's NewWave dinnerware line on their bridal registry list, I thought they were crazy. These pieces are big. They're white. They're, um, wavy. Well, you know, I'm an old fart. Okay, not that old.
I admit it - they're really cool. And oddly enough, practical. No one was more surprised than I was, to find out you can put them in the dishwasher and the microwave. Which is why, I suppose, you see them in use at so many fine restaurants.
But you know my real weakness is that 11-3/4 ounce NewWave Caffe cup. 'Cause I love my hot beverages - coffee, tea, chai, cocoa. Is there caffeine? I'm there! No puny little cup for me, thank you. Unless it's got espresso in it. Did I mention that they make an espresso version? They also have two sizes of party plates with indents to one side to fit the cups: the small fits the espresso cup, the large fits the NewWave Caffe. I love that. You can walk around with your cup and dessert in one hand and still have one hand free. And check out the matching spoons, too. Twisted, I tell you.
I know they look a little strange, but that stylish, twisty handle? It really does feel comfortable in your hand. They even make a version for you lefties, out there. Who does that?
Match these up with the NewWave dinnerware, and you could serve take-out and Chips Ahoy and look like you whipped up gourmet fare. I can see why A & J fell in love. With New Wave. Not that they would ever serve Chips Ahoy. I think.
Find the NewWave Caffe 50% off manufacturer's retail price at Villeroy & Boch's e-Store till the end of August. So, A & J, if you're out there - here's the perfect opportunity to fill in the pieces you might not have gotten for your wedding - and at a reasonable price.
You know I never make a major purchase without doing some research, and I'll let you in on a little secret: I did the math, and it works out to cost less than it does at our favorite home furnishings store - even with their ubiquitous 20% off coupons! And you don't need to collect a zillion coupons to complete the set. Click on any of these links and do the math yourself!
